Huge thank you to the Anderson Sertoma Club, Hoosier Park and Casino, GLPS, IKS, and all volunteers. If we could work on the weather for next year, it would be perfect.
We had a great time and sure appreciate all of your hard work. _________________ Mike Richey #64 TAG

I Want to thank every one that put in the hard work that it took to put this race on. One of the things that I have seen in my racing that has worked good for getting the spectators more into the racing is to have a open pit time dearing the lunch brake for them to come in and get photos signed and see the karts. I know that it has worked with the bikes and I think that it could work at a place like Anderson were the pits are small and specttators are keep out .

Sertoma was selling pit passes for folks who wanted/needed to come through the pits. I think that most spectators didn't want to spend the $10 that was necessary to cover insurance costs, not to mention signing the waivers, and especially the minor waivers! Obviously, there's a lot of activity there, and some dangers to people who don't know what to watch out for. The minimal number of tow vehicles in the pits (a necessity this weekend, but not common!) decreased the danger significantly.
Bill McLaughlin did bring a brand new kid kart and put it in the MCGP registration tent for some hands-on, up close inspection. It would be nice to make a few karts of different types available at Goodland, where we'll also have a lot of curious spectators. Could we do it in such a way that people could sit in the kart, take pictures and stuff? (My boys always treasured such event mementos!) Maybe even make someone available to monitor the karts, help people get in/out (even letting them know it is OK), and answer questions. Even most of our young folks know enough about the sport to do so. Good "public speaking" opportunity! That would provide a good experience for interested folks without all the dangers (moving people, karts, tools and parts!) and pit pass requirements of the pits.
Is this "do-able"? Anyone have an extra kart they can make available?
